The Roanoke Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society is a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization Our local organization has over 250 members and is one of the larger chapters of the NRHS in the country. We are a very active group, we operated excursion trains over a great deal of the eastern U.S., we have restored to operating condition a variety of passenger cars, freight cars and cabooses, and we have restored to operating condition several of our own vintage diesel locomotives.
Presently our passenger equipment is being utilized in the excursion trains operating at the North Carolina Museum of Transportation, also known as Spencer Shops.
